Renner Italia is the official sponsor of the Italian carpentry team – WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. A concrete commitment to supporting young talent, enhancing skilled work and contributing to the growth of professional competencies. The initiative represents a clear assumption of corporate social responsibility, consistent with the company’s identity, which has always been closely linked to the world of wood, manufacturing and craftsmanship. For Renner Italia, talking about young workers means talking about the future of the country. It means recognizing that skilled manual work, technical intelligence and the culture of well-made products are decisive resources not only for companies, but for the entire system.
A concrete commitment to young people and quality work
The Italian carpentry team effectively invests in what truly builds the future: skills. In a context where the value of skilled manual work must be constantly relaunched, Renner Italia chooses to stand on the side of those who transform knowledge into know-how. We have always promoted the dignity of technical professions and strengthened the link between business and education.
WorldSkills: for over 80 years the global benchmark for skills
The WorldSkills represent the most important international movement dedicated to professional skills. Active since 1946, it promotes excellence in trades, supports the development of vocational education and training systems and contributes to global economic progress.
WorldSkills competitions, aimed at young people aged 22 to 25, are not simple contests: they are a meeting point between educational systems, businesses and young talents. An ecosystem that enhances merit, spreads high quality standards and demonstrates how essential skills are for the growth of modern economies.
This is precisely the vision that Renner Italia fully shares: investing in abilities and talents means investing in the future of work and society.
There are 86 member states of WorldSkills (Italy has been part of it since 1995). The competition sectors are:
- Construction and building technology (trades such as carpenter, stonemason, landscape gardener, tiler…)
- Manufacturing and engineering technology (CNC milling, CAD mechanical engineering, mechatronics, mobile robotics…)
- Creative arts and fashion technology (florist, graphic design, fashion technology, window dresser…)
- Social and personal services (baker, hairdresser, receptionist, beautician…)
- Information and communication technology (ICT specialist, web developer)
- Transport and logistics (heavy vehicle technology, freight forwarding, automotive engineering…)
Carpentry: between tradition and innovation
Within WorldSkills, carpentry (cabinetmaking) represents one of the most emblematic disciplines.
The modern carpenter is a highly specialized professional who combines:
- technical design
- knowledge of materials
- execution precision
- aesthetic sensitivity
The carpenter does not just create objects, but interprets wood as a living material, transforming it into functional and design solutions.
In this context, South Tyrol plays a central role in the Italian representation. The local training system, recognized for its quality and rigor, has built over time a solid tradition capable of producing professionals ready to compete at an international level.
WorldSkills Shanghai 2026: a global challenge
The next edition of WorldSkills will take place in Shanghai from September 22 to 27, 2026 and will represent one of the most important global events in the field of professional skills.
Dozens of disciplines, hundreds of young talents from all over the world and a direct comparison between different educational and production systems: Shanghai will be the place where the value of work will take concrete form.
For Renner Italia, being part of this journey means supporting talents throughout the entire preparation phase, not only at the final moment of the competition.
Italian talent: Jonas Wenter
In the carpentry sector, Italy will be represented by 21-year-old Jonas Wenter. Jonas, who lives in the beautiful Val d’Ega and specifically in Collepietra, represents a new generation of craftsmen: skilled, determined and deeply connected to the quality of work. A journey to follow: Renner tells the story of the preparation towards Shanghai
Renner Italia will follow Jonas Wenter on his path towards WorldSkills 2026. On the website and official channels we will tell the story of the preparation, the challenges and the growth. Because behind this international competition there is a journey made of discipline, sacrifice and passion.
Renner Italia alongside Italian carpenters
Being a sponsor of the Italian carpentry team means reaffirming a deep connection with the world of wood. Renner Italia works every day in close contact with carpenters, craftsmen and wood industries.
Supporting the supply chain, also through this initiative, means enhancing one of the most authentic expressions of Made in Italy. Craftsmanship is not only tradition: it is innovation, research and evolution. It is a living heritage that must be supported, told and projected into the future.
