The aim

To challenge the most hostile environment for coatings: the sea. The Odyssey project opens new horizons in the complex panorama of durability tests. The project tests Renner Italia coatings with the harshest corrosion conditions possible: UV radiation, sea salt, marine aerosol, fine particulate matter and severe weather conditions in general.

The project

Renner Italia has exposed 108 panels (18 cycles) to natural degradation on an oceanographic platform and in an industrial port. Aluminium and PVC samples have been included for analysis and comparison. The wealth of data collected by the Odyssey project will allow the laboratory to develop new research objectives and, consequently, high performance products. Odyssey is an exclusive test in collaboration with ISMAR (Institute of Marine Sciences) of the CNR (National Research Council).
