We write Renner Italia’s epoxy resin, we pronounce glassy transparency.
Renner Italia’s epoxy resin is the ideal product for those who want to realise unique design objects: it enhances the purity of materials through clear light flares. It is an extraordinary colourless and unique product because it does not turn yellow. This feature is appreciated for the creation of valuable objects.
In addition to its aesthetical features, Renner Italia’s epoxy resin is also appreciated during the application. In fact, standard products require a catalysis between 40 and 50%. Instead of 25% catalysis between Renner’s epoxy resin and catalyst. This 1:4 ratio is very convenient for the user. It is ideal both for handcrafted and for industrial works.
Epoxy resin and special effects
By means of the colouring of resin, we can obtain lots of effects and opacity levels.
In order to realise the best special effects, the resin can be mixed with glitters, metallic and fluorescent powders. The resin can be brushed to increase its brightness or overcoated with acrylic topcoats, which further protect the original colour.
Renner’s epoxy resin can be used to enhance objects made of wood, metal, stones and plastic.
Concerning transparency and ductility, Renner’s epoxy resin has no equal. It is a top of the range product.
Epoxy resin, Andrea Toffanin’s video tutorials
Andrea Toffanin, a skilled craftsman and expert in epoxy resins, has tested Renner products and created video tutorials for our community for the creation of two tables with transparent and coloured epoxy resin. These are working methods adopted and proposed by Toffanin himself, which differ in part from what is suggested in Renner Italia technical data sheets, which we always ask you to refer to, especially regarding the sealer to be used, how it should be applied and the casting thickness.
Epoxy resin, before the casting
The quantity of resin necessary to realise a table depends on the volume of the casting area. A thousand litres of product is required to fill a square meter. The drying time cannot be shorter: it is necessary to wait at least 72 hours (better if one week) before starting with the manufacturing. A superior hardness is ensured only by a larger drying time. The drying process starts from the surface, up to the bottom. The blending of the resin is a very important step to get a perfect object. It must be blended for ten minutes, inverting the sense of the blending to let the bubbles inside the mix reach the surface. When the resin is ready, we can cast very slowly and at a maximum distance of 20 cm from the casting surface. The best place, in which we can work, has no humidity and a temperature between 18 and 20°C. The wood to be used must be completely level and dry: since the resin is a product that levels itself, every little difference in thickness will compromise the entire manufacturing.
